The Department of Petroleum Resources of Nigeria (DPR) issued a 12,000 Barrels Per Day (BPD) Private Refinery Construction to Amakpe International Refineries Nigeria Limited in July 2007. The Amakpe Refinery Project is being implemented in 2 Phases, with Phase 1- 6,000BPD Refinery Plant estimated to cost about $59.1 million, projected to start production by March 2011, if fully funded. The Project cost covers fabrication of Plants, Machinery and Equipment, construction of 12KM Steel Pipeline connecting Exxon/Mobile QIT and 120,000BBL Tank Farm, Field Erection and Start-Up/Operation for the Refinery Plant.

As of January 2010, Ventech Engineers Incorporated, the Refinery Plants and Machinery Manufacturers, achieved 100% in the fabrication of Amakpe Refinery Plants, Machinery and Equipment at the Company’s Facility in Pasadena, Texas, which will be shipped and installed at the Eket Project Site on payment of outstanding Contract sum of $4,595,048. Ventech will complete the Installation of the Refinery Plant within 6-7 months after shipment.
